Another year has begun and like every year everyone likes to do a list of propositions knowing damn well that they will never be accomplished. I won’t share with you mine because otherwise I’d have to really stick to them. Instead I’ll keep them secret so if I fail, none will know :’)
But let’s talk about fashion: as we all know very well, every year brings new trends, colors and items (I have my Tiktok FULL of trends’ predictions and so on). So today I want to explain to you my point of view on what I think will be in and out for the next year.
OUT: HOT PINK
Honestly, I had enough of this color! We’ve seen Valentino’s runways and Barbiecore: we were surrounded by hot pink clothes and accessories. It’s time to finally put a stop to this.
IN: MILLENNIAL PINK
Following Pantone color of the year’s lead, the “Peach Fuzz” (don’t get me started talking about it because I hate it), a new nuance of pink will replace the brighter and bolder one. It’s a softer, more gentle colorway that we’ve already seen around 2016/17. This year it will be back in all its variations: on clothing, accessories and interior design, too.
OUT: LOGOS AND MAINSTREAM
Basically, stop buying what everybody’s buying and stop liking stuff just because there is a logo on it.
IN: MINIMALISM BUT WITH A PERSONALITY
It’s not “quiet luxury”, it’s just a subtle way to be stylish. A more personalized way to wear clothing, that truly shows how much effort you put in researching the items before buying. It’s too easy to buy what everyone is wearing: buying vintage and second hand will be cooler and cooler because it means that you’re wearing something unique.
OUT: CUT-OUTS
We’ve seen enough of cut-out tops, sexy dresses and jeans with weird straps on the hips. That kind of femininity is in the past, we’re ready for something more mature.
IN: TRANSPARENCIES AND SUBTLE WAYS TO SHOW SKIN
As I said, we’re ready for a more mature femininity and sensuality. Sheer items are the best way to show skin without actually showing it, but we’re also talking about more classy choices that allow you to be sensual but never vulgar.
OUT: MONOCHROME
Don’t get me wrong, monochrome outfits are cool, we can all agree on that. But they’re kinda… boring? Following the rise of personalization, we will expect MORE, even color wise.
IN: PRINTS
Basically you can substitute one solid color item with a printed one, maintaining the same color palette. Doing this, you don’t lose the “monochrome effect” but the whole vibe of the outfit changes. I explain it better in this video.
OUT: MAXIMALISM
Maximalism: as a direct response to quiet luxury, last year we’ve seen people taking the opposite road, with super complicated outfits, with many details, many colors and prints matched together. We’re going to keep this form of expression but we’re taking something off…
IN: LITTLE DETAILS
Yes to all those details that can make a basic outfit more particular: a bow, a flower pin, rouches, funny stitches and so on… There’s no need to go extreme in order to be stylish and original.
Of course we will keep talking about trends during the year, especially after the Fashion Weeks.
That’s all for now, see u soon :)
